Balkans Group organised the second training of the year for the Executive Program “Youth in Politics: Governance and Political Systems”

23 – 26 May 2023

Balkans Group organised the second training of the year for the Executive Program “Youth in Politics: Governance and Political Systems”. Thirty-five young participants from diverse backgrounds and political parties are engaging in thought-provoking lectures and discussions on vital topics including Rule of Law, Good Governance, Economic Development and Social Policies, Educational Policies, and Regional Cooperation.

We had the distinct honor of welcoming His Excellency Jens Erik Grøndahl, Ambassador of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina, as a keynote speaker. Ambassador Grøndahl eloquently highlighted the significance of this programme, emphasizing the utmost importance of fostering cross-party communication, nurturing regional cooperation, and EU integration.

Within the Executive Programme “Youth in Politics: Governance, and Political Systems”, Balkans Group organized two study visits to the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.

Participants visited the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, where they had a meeting with the Director Yll Buleshkaj. The discussion centered on the importance of the agency in preventing and combatting corruption. The director also took the time to update the youth on the latest developments regarding whistleblowers and their role within institutions. This meeting provided valuable insights into the ongoing efforts to promote transparency and integrity in Kosovo.

During the second visit to the Municipality of Pristina, participants were warmly welcomed by the Deputy Mayor Ms. Donjeta Sahatçiu. In an engaging conversation, she emphasized the importance of actively involving young people in various political structures. Ms. Sahatçiu, being the first woman in her position, shared her personal experiences and the challenges she faced. Her presence served as an inspiration for the participants, encouraging them to actively participate in politics and become proactive citizens in their communities.

Overall, these study visits provided a valuable platform for the participants to gain first-hand knowledge about the vital work being done in Kosovo’s institutions.

This activity is supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
